It's the little things
Our website has been designed to whet your appetite and entice you to Africa's huge choice of destinations. It will also give you ideas of where to visit or explore, but it is simply the beginning of your journey. When you need help, extra information or guidance that is when to call us at Africa Travel DMC and we will help you to arrive at your perfect tailor-made vacation. We understand that everyone has their own personal definition of luxury so tell us as much as you can about your clients and we'll put together suggestions for you.
Unlike many destination management companies, we recommend what is right for you, not for us and above all we will be honest with you, especially if you are being too ambitious and want to pack too much into a break. Distances and transfers in this vast continent are often much greater or less frequent than in other areas and it is our job to alert you to this and to explain exactly how far or quickly you can travel whilst still enjoying it to the maximum.
We have selected the countries, properties, and itineraries on our website as inspiration to start your journey, but this is by no means an exhaustive list of what we can provide. Whether you already have an itinerary in mind or you would like us to create something special for a client that has seen it all, we are happy to help. Whether your clients are looking for experiential travel, ecological adventures, or simply relaxation - we can create luxury, tailor-made ground arrangements to ensure they have the most authentic, rewarding experience.
Meet & Greet Services: Your clients will feel like VIPs from the moment they step off the plane. They will be greeted with sign boards displaying your agency's logo (not ours). We've thought of everything to make them feel special when they arrive and to let them know that they are in good hands.
Transfers: We know what clients want - private, comfortable transfers with knowledgeable representatives on board, a cooler with cold water, rest stops on request, and of course, photo opportunities to get the perfect shot of the African sunset.
Car Rental: Some of our clients in South Africa and Namibia choose self-drive holidays. We can provide rental car pickup from the airport or to the hotel the next day if desired. Looking for something special? We can arrange for classic cars, convertibles or Harley Davidsons.
Private Planes: We can arrange all commercial and private domestic flights within Africa. Private air charters provide speedy, luxurious transfers to the most remote destinations. For once-in-a-lifetime experiences, we can also organize aerial safaris by hot air balloon, micro-lite, or helicopter.
Advice & Reservations: We are the locals in South Africa that are always "in the know". We can share our knowledge with you to let your clients experience Africa like a native. We know the trendiest places to be seen, which venues are overhyped and overpriced, and the hidden gems that tourists would never find themselves. We've even been known to secure a table from the chef at the "in" restaurant that is booked solid.
Luxury Rail: Two exquisite rail companies, Rovos Rail and the Blue Train, offer scenic itineraries accented with fine dining, unforgettable views, and stops at all of the highlights along the way. We'll give you ideas on how you can incorporate a rail journey into your itinerary.
Accommodation: We have selected the best boutique and luxury properties throughout Africa which represent the diversity of this exotic continent. We offer owner-run accommodation that we have stayed at ourselves and developed a relationship with the proprietor, which gives us the best rates, exclusive extras, and special touches for demanding clients. We'll recommend the best room in the house and we'll make sure they make a fuss over you.
Excursions: We have access to the principal players in each country in Africa and we can secure the most highly acclaimed guides, most sought-after experiences, and the most unique African adventures. Clients won't find these tours in their guidebooks!
Bespoke Itineraries: We don't do tour busses, set departures, or group tours. We create itineraries to make clients feel like they are experiencing Africa on their own terms, for the first time.
Exclusive Access: Our insider connections gives us access to private art collections, exclusive wine cellars, the most renowned wildlife experts, and the finest chefs. Our little black book can help you create unparalleled experiences for your clients' tastes.

At Africa Travel DMC we are strong believers in ensuring that those who live in destinations visited by tourists benefit from such visits - whether it be directly through employment in the travel industry, or indirectly via community programmes, outreach projects or educational schemes. Whenever possible we try to feature and recommend those properties and suppliers 'who give something back' and who have policies of employing staff and utilizing resources from the local community.
Chipembere Rhino FoundationConservation is key to Africa, its livelihood, its future and its people which is why maintenance of its forests, flora and fauna is of such importance and conserving its animals and birds vital. One of the most threatened of all species is the rhino - almost driven to the point of extinction 50 years ago, a huge conservation programme swung into action and the species was preserved. However, it is under threat once again with only 20,000 white rhino left in the world and an average of one rhino per day currently being poached.
Meaning rhinoceros in the local Shona language, the non-profit Chipembere Rhino Foundation is committed to assisting in the protection and conservation of one of Africa's most beloved creatures, and was set up when the Amakhala Private Game Reserve lost two rhinos in a single night. The long-term vision of the Foundation is to provide on-theground equipment support for anti-poaching teams, to supply monitoring assistance in the form of tracking devices, veterinary procedures & ear-notching kits, and to create a media awareness campaign though youth education.
Grootbos Nature ReserveGrootbos has always shown a serious commitment to conservation. However, a major threat to this is high local unemployment and a lack of access for local communities to natural resources, which the Reserve has set out to redress and has resulted in many accolades. The Grootbos Foundation works tirelessly in the conservation of the biodiversity of Grootbos and its surrounds and also with the development of sustainable nature-based livelihoods through eco tourism, research, management and education projects.
One such project is the Green Futures Horticultural and Life Skills College which provides training programmes for local unemployed people as well as transport, meals, uniform, equipment and a basic wage. Linked to the college is a plant nursery and landscaping business which generates income, and Grootbos' guests are always encouraged to visit the school, and of course to contribute.
Another project is the Spaces for Sport Project where, with the encouragement and passion of Grootbos, the Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre was opened for the use of the local community and townships. Add to this a Future Trees Project and a number of greening initiatives within local communities and guests can easily see and understand Grootbos'commitment to its locality, to conservation and to eco-tourism.
UthandoUthando South Africa is a non-profit organization and a truly unique Responsible Tourism initiative based in Cape Town. Its mission is to provide a platform and infrastructure to raise funds from individuals, groups and organizations who have an interest in the region. Money generated from organizations such as Africa Travel supports a broad range of local communitybased, innovative empowerment projects with substantial and enduring value to the beneficiaries.
In addition, Uthando aims to provide tourists with an authentic introduction to the social problems confronting so many South Africans, and the innovative and inspirational ways in which these problems are being handled. The exposure of this programme to overseas visitors facilitates a vital role of ongoing awareness, creation and education, which in turn helps to make a significant difference to the lives of the most destitute and marginalized communities.
One of the many projects supported is Nazareth House, an orphanage for children living with HIV/AIDS, with visitors to Cape Town able to share in a truly moving and uplifting experience. Other supported projects include drug rehabilitation, housing and shelter support, human rights development and sustainable economic development.
